Franchise FAQ
Mason Remodeling has built kitchens, baths, and whole homes since 2004, and every location operates under the same Threshold Standard: written pricing before work starts, background-checked crews, and a guarantee that actually says what it covers. These are the questions prospective owners ask us most. If yours isn’t here, call the franchise line.

Common Questions

Do I need construction experience to open a Mason Remodeling franchise?
No. You do not need to be a builder, a carpenter, or a remodeler to own a Mason Remodeling location. What you need is the ability to run a business, manage people, and hold a team to a standard. The construction knowledge lives in the system: the operational playbooks, the vendor partnerships, the training, and the support team behind you. Many of our owners come from backgrounds outside the trades. What they share is an unwillingness to let sloppy work go out the door with their name on it.
What is the total investment range?
The total initial investment varies depending on your market, real estate costs, and how large a territory you choose to open. Rather than quote a single number that won’t hold up across different cities, we give you a written breakdown after a short conversation about your location and goals. The range includes the franchise fee, working capital, initial marketing, equipment, and the ramp-up period before revenue stabilizes. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll walk you through the actual numbers for your area, in writing, before you commit to anything.
Is financing available?
We do not offer financing directly, and we won’t pretend the capital requirement is smaller than it is. What we do is connect you with lenders who understand home-service franchising and have worked with our candidates before. Some owners use SBA-backed loans. Some use retirement account structures. Some bring a partner. The honest answer is that you should expect to have meaningful skin in the game, and we’ll help you understand exactly what that number looks like before you spend a dollar.
Will I have an exclusive territory?
Yes. Every Mason Remodeling location operates with a defined geographic territory, and the boundaries are spelled out in your franchise agreement. We do not sell overlapping territories, and we don’t play games with “carve-outs” that quietly reduce what you thought you bought. The size of the territory depends on population density, housing stock, and the remodeling demand in your market. We’d rather give you a territory you can actually dominate than a giant map you can’t service well.
How long is training?
Training runs multiple weeks and covers three things: the business systems, the construction process, and the Threshold Standard that every location lives by. You’ll learn how to price jobs the Mason way, how to scope a bathroom so the written price holds, how to hire and fire to the standard, and how to handle the inevitable moment when a homeowner is worried about a stranger in their house. You’ll also spend time with an existing location so you see the business actually running before you open your own doors. Training is not a formality. It’s the thing that keeps our brand from becoming another contractor with a logo.
Are there ongoing fees or royalties?
Yes. Like any franchise, there is a royalty structure and a contribution to the brand’s marketing fund. The percentages are stated plainly in the Franchise Disclosure Document, and we encourage you to have a franchise attorney review them line by line. What you get for those fees: the national call center staffed by live people 24/7, the vendor relationships with brands like Kohler, Moen, KraftMaid, Cambria, and GAF, ongoing training, and a brand promise that actually means something when your crew knocks on the door. You should understand every fee before you sign. Ask us anything. That’s the point of this page.
How long does it take to open a location?
From signing to opening day, most owners plan for a build-out period of several months. That includes territory finalization, securing a space if you’re not running a home-based shop, hiring your first project manager, completing training, and launching your local marketing. Some owners move faster because they already have commercial real estate or a book of local relationships. We will not rush you into opening before your operation is ready to hold the Threshold Standard. A bad first month costs more than a slower start.
What kind of support do I get after opening?
You are not buying a logo and a binder. You get a franchise support team that understands construction, not just franchising. That includes help with job pricing, crew hiring, material sourcing through our specification-grade partnerships, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise process. You also get the call infrastructure: a live person answers every call, day or night, so a homeowner in your territory never hits a voicemail loop at 9:30 on a Sunday. The brand promise is the moat, and the support team exists to protect it.
What kind of person succeeds as a Mason Remodeling owner?
Someone who is bothered by the way the trades usually treat people. The owner who wins with us is disciplined, willing to be measured against a standard, and more interested in building a reputation than flipping a quick sale. You don’t need to love drywall. You need to love it when a homeowner says, “Your crew was exactly who you said they’d be.” If that sentence doesn’t excite you, this franchise is the wrong fit, and we’d rather tell you now than sign you up and watch it fail.
What’s the next step if I’m interested?
Call (803) 680-2547 and ask for the franchise team. You’ll have a conversation with a real person, not a call tree, and we’ll start with the basics: your market, your capital position, and your timeline. From there we’ll send you the FDD and get your questions answered honestly. No pressure, no “only two territories left.” If it’s a fit, we’ll both know it.
Still Have Questions?
Call the franchise line at (803) 680-2547 and talk to a person who can answer your questions directly. There’s no script and no waiting until Monday morning. If you’d rather write it out, submit the form on this page and someone will get back to you with real answers.
