ViewLux Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your ViewLux paver driveway has shifted, cracked, or started separating at the edges, we stock and install ViewLux-compatible pavers across Los Angeles, with most paver repairs running $826 to $2,124 and full replacement work priced from $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage and site conditions. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a paver that rocks underfoot, a low spot that pools water after rain, or a border course that has drifted outward into the lawn. We can usually diagnose the cause in one visit and tell you exactly what needs to be done, in writing, before any work starts.
Mason Remodeling is an independent Los Angeles contractor. We are not affiliated with ViewLux, but we work with their paver systems regularly and know which parts are still in production and which ones have to be matched from remaining stock or an equivalent current line.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux driveway and paver systems come in a few distinct series, and the part you need depends on which one is under your feet. The heavy-duty driveway pavers are 60mm and 80mm thick units, designed for vehicle loads. The walkway and patio pavers are thinner, usually 40mm to 50mm, and they fail faster if they end up carrying car traffic. That mismatch is one of the most common compatibility issues we see in Los Angeles: a homeowner has the lighter series installed on a driveway because the color matched, and five years later the pavers are cracked along the tire paths.
To identify what you have, look at the underside of a loose paver. ViewLux molds have a code stamped into the back face, usually a two-letter series mark followed by a number. A 4-inch-by-8-inch paver with a 60mm thickness is almost always a driveway unit. If your pavers are 40mm or thinner and they’re on a driveway, we’ll tell you honestly that patching them is a short-term fix. For the OEM-versus-aftermarket decision: ViewLux colors are matched to their own manufacturing batches, and a true color match from an aftermarket equivalent is rare. For small repairs, we source ViewLux stock or the closest current-series match. For anything larger than a few dozen pavers, we usually recommend matching the original product line, because color drift across a big patch is the kind of thing you notice every time you pull into the driveway.

Signs Your ViewLux Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Rocking or wobbly pavers. Almost always a base problem, not a paver problem. The compacted base under the affected area has settled or washed out, and resetting the paver without fixing the base means it will wobble again after the next rain.
- Edge courses drifting outward. ViewLux driveways rely on a restraint edge, usually concrete or a plastic paver edging, to hold the field together. When the restraint fails along one side, the entire pattern starts to spread, and you’ll see gaps open up between rows.
- Low spots that hold water after rain. In Los Angeles we get long dry stretches, then sudden heavy rain. A low spot means the base has settled unevenly. Water pooling in one area for days accelerates paver wear and, in clay-heavy soil like parts of the San Fernando Valley, makes the settlement worse each season.
- Cracks along the tire paths. This is the loading pattern telling you the pavers are undersized for the traffic. ViewLux makes driveway-rated pavers specifically to avoid this, and when we see cracks running in two parallel lines, the cause is almost always the wrong series under vehicle load.
- Weeds or ants pushing through the joints. Joint sand has washed out or was never installed properly. Without sand locking the pavers together, they shift under load, and the cracks become a highway for roots and insects. Left alone, this turns a sand refill into a full re-lay job.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Los Angeles homeowners, ViewLux paver driveway work falls into two price bands. Spot repairs, where we reset a section of pavers, rebuild the base, and replace broken units, typically run $826 to $2,124. Full driveway replacement, including removal of the old pavers, new base prep, re-installation, and joint sand, runs $8,260 to $21,240, with the range driven by square footage, access, whether the old base can be reused, and the specific ViewLux series you’re matching. Smaller paver patio work starts at $4,130.
Every quote we write includes the parts and labor as separate line items, so you can see exactly what the pavers cost and exactly what the installation costs. There’s no verbal estimate that grows at the end. The written price we give you before work starts is the price you pay. And the finished paver work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t right within a year of completion, we come back and make it right at no cost to you.
DIY or Call Us?
Pavers are one of the safer hardscape materials to work with. You’re not dealing with high-tension springs, electrical panels, or gas lines. But the safety risk in a driveway project is real in a different way: a base that isn’t compacted correctly will fail under the weight of a car, and you won’t know until a paver tips and becomes a trip hazard at the worst time. What a homeowner can safely do is sweep new joint sand into gaps and check for loose edge restraints. What usually goes wrong when a homeowner tries to reset pavers is drainage: the old base sloped away from the house, and the new patch slopes toward it, and six months later water is sitting against the foundation.

FAQs

A properly installed ViewLux paver driveway in Los Angeles lasts 25 to 40 years, with the base doing most of the work; the pavers themselves are cast concrete that holds up well to our sun unless they’re subjected to loads they weren’t rated for. The first thing to fail is usually the base or the edge restraint, not the paver, which is why a repair done right can extend the driveway for another decade or more. Call (803) 680-2547 if you want us to look at your specific conditions before quoting a repair.
A cracked paver is replaced, not repaired; concrete pavers can’t be glued back together in a way that survives driveway traffic, and the replacement paver should match your existing series and color as closely as possible. For one or two broken units, replacement is inexpensive and takes about an hour, but the underlying cause of the crack, which is usually a base issue, still needs to be addressed or the new paver will crack the same way. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll tell you the full cost before any work starts.
Most spot repairs, where we remove a settled section, rebuild the base, and reset the pavers, take one day, with the joint sand swept in and compacted the same afternoon. A full driveway replacement in Los Angeles takes two to four days depending on size, access, and how much of the old base has to be removed and rebuilt. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll give you a realistic schedule and a written price.
We keep a limited stock of ViewLux driveway pavers in common colors and sizes on hand for small repairs, and we order the full series from our hardscaping partners, which include Belgard, Unilock, and Techo-Bloc, when we need to match a larger area or a discontinued color. If your ViewLux pavers are a less common series or an older color, we’ll locate remaining stock or find the closest current equivalent and show you samples before we order. Call (803) 680-2547 for a free estimate.
Most paver driveway replacements in Los Angeles don’t require a building permit because they’re considered a surface replacement, not a structural change, but we always check the specific requirements for your address before we start. If a permit is required, we pull it and manage the inspection, and that cost is included in your written quote. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll verify what applies to your project.
