Jerith Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Jerith fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a full panel-and-post replacement on an average residential lot, and we carry Jerith-compatible posts, brackets, and rail hardware on our trucks so most repairs are finished in a single visit. Most Los Angeles homeowners discover a failed part the same way: a gate starts dragging, a post leans after a Santa Ana wind event, or a panel rattles loose from its bracket and suddenly the fence line looks tired. The good news is Jerith aluminum fencing is known for clean lines and modular parts, which means a failed section rarely requires tearing out the whole run.
We’re an independent Los Angeles service provider, not a Jerith factory branch, so we give you straight answers on OEM versus aftermarket parts without a sales script. If you’re holding a cracked post cap or a bent rail bracket in your hand right now, you’re in the right place.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith manufactures aluminum and steel fencing in several series that all share a similar rail-and-picket design language, but the part numbers do not cross over cleanly between residential and industrial lines. The residential lines most common in Los Angeles yards include the Jerith Defender, Estate, and Premier series, plus the Fortress and Sentry lines for mid-grade and entry-level budgets respectively. Each series uses a specific post size (2″ x 2″ or 2.5″ x 2.5″ square posts are typical), and the rails are punched to accept pickets at a set spacing, usually 3-7/8″ to 4″ on center.
The compatibility gotcha we see constantly: a homeowner measures the outside of the post, orders what looks like the right bracket, and finds the bracket channel is too narrow for the rail because Jerith rails are extruded with a specific profile, not a generic square tube. Before calling us, check for a small manufacturer sticker on the inside face of a post or the underside of a top rail. If there’s no sticker, measure the rail profile and the space between pickets. That’s usually enough for us to identify the series over the phone.
OEM Jerith parts fit perfectly but can take two to three weeks to arrive if we have to order from the factory. Quality aftermarket equivalents from fence supply houses in the San Fernando Valley often match OEM dimensions to within a few thousandths of an inch and can be on your fence the same week. We’ll tell you whether the part you need is one where aftermarket is safe or one where we’d rather wait for Jerith’s own stock.

Signs Your Jerith Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate dragging on the latch side. The hinge post has shifted or the gate frame has sagged, usually because the post wasn’t set deep enough when the fence was installed. In Los Angeles, clay-heavy soil in areas like Woodland Hills and Northridge expands and contracts with rain, which slowly works shallow posts loose.
- Pickets rattling inside the rail. The punched holes in the rail have wallowed out from years of wind movement. Santa Ana gusts act like a constant fatigue test on aluminum pickets, and once a few holes are egg-shaped, the whole panel gets noisy.
- Rail pulling out of the post bracket. This is almost always a bracket failure, not a rail failure. The factory bracket is cast aluminum and can crack at the screw boss, especially on gates or sections near a pool where someone leaned a ladder or a trash bin against the fence.
- White oxidation powder at joints. Aluminum doesn’t rust, but it does corrode electrolytically when it contacts steel hardware in the presence of moisture. Los Angeles coastal fog from areas like Playa del Rey and San Pedro accelerates this, and the white powder is aluminum oxide eating away at the rail end.
- Post leaning but not broken. The post itself is usually fine. The concrete footing has cracked or the post was set in soil below the frost line without enough concrete mass. We see this often in hillside neighborhoods like Mount Washington and Echo Park, where runoff erodes the soil around footings.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a typical Los Angeles Jerith fence installation, plan on $4,130 to $10,620 depending on linear footage, gate count, and whether we’re replacing the entire fence or just a section. A single failed post with bracket and rail repair usually lands between $450 and $1,200. A full 100-foot run with two gates and new posts runs higher because we’re removing old footings, pouring new concrete, and resetting everything to a straight line.
| Job Scope | Typical Los Angeles Price Range |
|---|---|
| Single post reset with new bracket | $450 – $1,200 |
| Gate rebuild (hinges, frame, latch) | $800 – $2,200 |
| Section replacement (10 – 20 linear feet) | $1,500 – $4,200 |
| Full fence replacement (up to 100 linear feet) | $4,130 – $10,620 |
Every price we quote is written before we start. You’ll see parts, labor, concrete, haul-away, and permit costs listed as separate line items if permits apply. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers any Jerith fence installation we complete: if the panel comes loose from a bracket or a post shifts within one year, we return and fix it at no charge. No invoice for the callback, no arguing about who’s responsible. Call (803) 680-2547 and we will schedule the return visit.
DIY or Call Us?
Jerith fencing is not in the same danger category as a garage door spring, but there are still two situations where we’d tell you to put the tools down. First, if an entire post is leaning, the footing has to come out of the ground, and a concrete footing with a post in it is heavy enough to injure a back or crush a foot if it tips while you’re wrestling it. Second, if you’re on a sloped yard in Los Angeles and a retaining wall is involved, the fence post may be tied into the wall’s structural anchoring, and pulling it without knowing the tie-in can damage the wall.
What you can safely do is identify the part. Take photos of the failed bracket, the rail profile, and the post cap. Measure the post width and the distance between pickets. Send that to us or describe it over the phone and Isaac Pruett, who grew up in Sylmar and has spent two decades fixing Los Angeles fences, will tell you over the phone whether we can match it the same week. For most Los Angeles Jerith repairs, we can. Know who’s coming, know what it costs, know it’s backed up – everything else is just noise.
FAQs

A properly installed Jerith aluminum fence lasts 25 to 40 years in Los Angeles, with the powder coat starting to chalk after 15 to 20 years in direct sun. Coastal areas with salt air, like Playa del Rey and San Pedro, will shorten that by a few years unless the fence is rinsed occasionally, but the aluminum itself won’t fail. What fails first is almost always the hardware: steel screws, cast brackets, and gate hinges. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll look at photos before recommending a repair or a replacement.
A bent rail can sometimes be straightened if the bend is in the middle of a run and the pickets aren’t kinked, but a bent post should be replaced, not pulled straight. Aluminum work-hardens when it bends, so straightening a post leaves it weaker at the bend point, and the next Santa Ana wind will fold it in the same spot. For most repairs, replacement is cheaper in the long run. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll give you an honest read from photos before we schedule anything.
A single post reset or bracket replacement takes a half day, and a gate rebuild is usually done by mid-afternoon. A full fence replacement on a standard Los Angeles lot takes two to three working days, including old fence removal, new footings, panel installation, and cleanup. We’ll give you a written schedule before we start, and the crew who shows up matches the names and photos you receive in advance. Call (803) 680-2547 for a timeline on your specific project.
We stock common Jerith-compatible brackets, post caps, rail sections, and gate hardware on our trucks for the residential series we see most often in Los Angeles yards. Uncommon parts, like specific Jerith Premier series finials or specialty gate latches, may need a factory order that takes two to three weeks. We’ll tell you before you pay a dollar whether your part is on the truck or on order. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
