ECO Window Systems Windows & Doors: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We stock and install ECO Window Systems-compatible windows, door panels, rollers, balances, weatherstripping, and hardware for Los Angeles homes, with most window replacements running $5,310 – $17,700 installed and most door part repairs between $470 and $2,125. In most cases we can diagnose the exact part on the first visit and have it ordered or on the truck within days, not weeks. Homeowners usually discover a failing ECO part the hard way: a sash that suddenly drops, a sliding door that sounds like gravel on a chalkboard, or a window that won’t close flush the night before a heat wave. By then the original part has often been grinding itself down for months.
Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To

ECO Window Systems builds vinyl and aluminum window lines, with most of what we see in Los Angeles falling into their single-hung, horizontal slider, and picture-window series from the late 2000s through current production. The model number is your fastest path to the right part. Look for a silver or white sticker along the inside edge of the sash or frame, typically on the top rail or the side jamb. That sticker will list a series code and a manufacture date, and those two numbers tell us whether your window uses a block-and-tackle balance or a constant-force coil, whether the roller is an adjustable steel wheel or a fixed nylon barrel, and whether the weatherstrip channel is T-slot or compression-fit. You cannot guess this from the outside.
On the OEM vs. aftermarket question: ECO no longer supports parts for every discontinued series, and some original rollers and balances were underbuilt for how often Los Angeles windows get opened and closed. In those cases a quality aftermarket part from a manufacturer like Prime-Line or Sashco often outlasts the original. We’ll tell you when that’s the case, and we’ll show you the difference. Mason Remodeling is an independent service provider, not an ECO Window Systems dealer or affiliate.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Window sash drops when you raise it, or won’t stay up at all. The balance mechanism has lost spring tension or the cord has snapped inside the jamb. We see this constantly in the San Fernando Valley, where heat cycles and dry air shorten balance life compared to coastal climates.
- Sliding door drags, scrapes, or sounds like it’s grinding. The rollers are shot. Once the wheel flattens, the door rides on the metal frame, which starts gouging the track. The track can usually be saved if you catch it early.
- Window won’t close flush, or locks hard against a gap. The sash has shifted because the balance on one side is pulling harder than the other. Continuing to force it will crack the keeper or bend the lock rod.
- You can feel air moving around the sash or door even when it’s closed. Weatherstripping has compressed permanently. Los Angeles sun bakes the vinyl or pile strip until it loses rebound, and no amount of WD-40 fixes that.
- Condensation or haze between two panes. The seal has failed and the insulating gas has leaked out. You can’t reseal a failed IGU on-site; it’s a glass-unit replacement, which is one of the more common whole-sash swaps we do in this market.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, expect the following installed ranges:
- Full window replacement (standard vinyl, per opening): $5,310 – $17,700 depending on size, grid style, energy package, and whether we’re doing one window or ten.
- Sliding door replacement: $3,540 – $10,030 for a typical 60-inch or 72-inch door.
- Part-only repair (balance, roller, lock, weatherstrip): $470 – $2,125 per window or door, including the part and a return visit if needed.
The range is driven by access, frame condition, glass package, and whether the original rough opening is square. On any job over a few hundred dollars we provide a written price before work starts: parts listed separately from labor, which is how Isaac Pruett has run Mason Remodeling since 2004 through our Threshold Group family of companies. Every repair and replacement carries our written guarantee with clear terms, including a free return visit if our repair fails within 365 days of completion.
DIY or Call Us?
For a window balance or a sliding-door roller, this isn’t the most dangerous job in the house, but it’s one where the wrong part or a forced removal will cost you double: you’ll buy a part that looks right, scrape a channel while prying, then need a new frame insert on top of the original repair. The one we’d caution you strongly on is the spring-loaded balance system. Releasing a balance without the proper tool, or while the sash is still in the frame, can whip the cord or send the block flying. We’ve fixed windows where the homeowner’s first attempt was the reason for the second visit. If you want to check one thing yourself, check the sticker we mentioned above and read us the series code over the phone. That’s genuinely useful. For anything past that, call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll come look at it. The estimate is free and the price is in writing before we touch a tool.
FAQs

You’ll typically get 15 – 25 years from the frame and glass, but the moving parts – balances, rollers, weatherstripping, locks – often need replacement by year 8 – 12, sooner in the Valley where heat and dry air accelerate fatigue. We see failed balances every week on windows closer to the 12-year mark. Call (803) 680-2547 if yours is acting up and we’ll give you an honest lifespan read on what’s left.
Yes, in most cases that’s exactly what we do. A stuck sash is usually a $15 – $80 balance or a $20 – $50 roller, plus the install labor, not a whole-window replacement. We only recommend full replacement when the frame is warped, the glass seal has blown, or the part line is discontinued and aftermarket won’t fit. For a precise quote, call (803) 680-2547 – estimates are free.
Most single-part repairs – a roller swap, a balance replacement, a new lock – take under an hour once the part is in hand. If we have to order a specific ECO part or a custom-size insulated glass unit, that’s typically 3 – 7 business days. For a realistic timeline on your exact model, call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll tell you what we’re looking at.
We stock the most common balances, rollers, locks, and weatherstrip sizes that fit ECO window and door lines, plus compatible aftermarket options from Prime-Line and Sashco for discontinued series. If we don’t have your exact part on the truck, we’ll have a straight answer the same day on what it costs and when it lands. Call (803) 680-2547 with your model number and we’ll check before we even schedule.
If your ECO Window Systems window or door is fighting you – a sash that slams, a slider you have to hip-check, a lock that won’t seat – call us at (803) 680-2547 for a free estimate. We’ll tell you what’s wrong, what it costs, and who’s coming to fix it. Know who’s coming, know what it costs, know it’s backed up – everything else is just noise.
