Why Los Angeles Homeowners Choose Delta Construction
Mason Remodeling provides Delta service in Los Angeles – independent construction for shower valves, rough-in replacements, tub-to-shower conversions, and full bathroom rebuilds. We’re not a Delta dealer or authorized service center, which means our recommendations are honest: sometimes a $300 cartridge rebuild fixes the problem, and sometimes a 25-year-old valve body behind the tile needs to come out. That’s the kind of straight answer a Los Angeles homeowner needs when water is dripping through a downstairs ceiling, not a sales pitch. Call (803) 680-2547 for a written estimate before any work starts.
Why Trust Mason Remodeling for Your Delta Construction?

Isaac Pruett, our owner, grew up in the Sylmar end of the San Fernando Valley, where half the neighborhood spent weekends fixing something the last guy did wrong. After high school he went through the construction technology program at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, learning framing, finish work, and how to read a set of plans without guessing. He has spent nearly two decades remodeling homes across Los Angeles, and his dad was a finish carpenter – so sloppy trim work gets caught on every project before it’s called done.
That matters for Delta work because the difference between a shower valve that lasts five years and one that fails in eighteen months is usually in the details: the cartridge seating, the trim alignment, the rough-in depth behind the tile. Our technicians have been installing and servicing Delta Monitor 13/14 series valves, MultiChoice R10000 rough-ins, and Lahara, Linden, and Trinsic trim across Long Beach, Glendale, Anaheim, and greater Los Angeles homes for over a decade. We’ve seen what 40-year-old galvanized supply lines and 90°F summer attic heat do to Delta trim kits, and we plan for it. Every crew member arrives in a marked uniform with a photo ID badge, and you get the technician’s name and photograph before the visit. The Threshold Standard, our named verification process, applies to every job. Know who’s coming, know what it costs, know it’s backed up – everything else is just noise.

Common Delta Construction Problems We Fix in Los Angeles
Delta builds solid fixtures, but Los Angeles water is hard, supply lines are often from the mid-century build era, and heat cycles in walls and attics take a toll. Here are the failures we see most often:
- Monitor 13/14 series pressure-balance cartridge seizing (RP19804/RP46074). The single-handle cartridges in Monitor 13/14 shower valves build up calcium from hard LA water and seize. The symptom is a shower that runs cold when someone flushes a toilet, or scalds when another fixture opens. The fix is a cartridge replacement, which we stock for same-visit repair in most Los Angeles neighborhoods.
- MultiChoice Universal rough-in valve body pitting or cracking behind the tile. The Delta R10000 series rough-in is a workhorse, but after 15 to 20 years in LA’s water, the brass body can pit or crack at the solder joints. The first sign is often a water stain on a ceiling below the bathroom – the leak has been running inside the wall cavity before anyone sees it. This requires opening the wall and replacing the rough-in, which makes it a natural time to reconsider shower tile and layout.
- Thermostatic and pressure-balance trim kits corroding at the bonnet nut. Older Delta trim kits, especially in Westside and beach-area homes with softened or high-mineral water, corrode where the bonnet nut meets the handle adapter. The handle spins freely or drips at the escutcheon plate. Sometimes the trim kit alone is salvageable; often the cartridge behind it has been damaged too.
- Classic and Foundations series kitchen faucet leaks. Delta’s 1990s-era Classic and Foundations kitchen faucets used a ball valve (RP17446) and plastic diverter that crack over time. The faucet drips at the base or the sprayer diverts wrong. Some of these are worth rebuilding; others have hard-water scale inside the body that makes replacement the better long-term call.
- Tub-to-shower conversion rough-in incompatibility. A homeowner may have a Delta tub filler they want to convert to a shower, but the existing rough-in depth or spacing doesn’t match modern Delta MultiChoice requirements. We see this constantly in 1950s and 1960s Los Angeles ranch homes and bungalows. The conversion often requires relocating the supply lines and setting a new rough-in, which changes the scope and the honest estimate.
Delta Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We default to genuine Delta OEM cartridges and trim for MultiChoice and Monitor valves. Aftermarket knockoffs – the ones you can find online for a third of the price – fail within 18 to 24 months in Los Angeles water. We’ve had to go back and replace the discount version enough times that we stopped offering it as an option, unless a homeowner specifically requests it and understands the tradeoff.
For older discontinued Delta faucets where OEM parts are no longer available, or where the rough-in body is compromised, we price the honest repair-vs-replace call. A $300 rebuild on a 25-year-old valve body isn’t worth it when a MultiChoice rough-in with new trim is on the table. That math changes if the wall has to come open anyway, so we will always show you the numbers before anyone lifts a tile saw. Call (803) 680-2547 to schedule a diagnosis and a written line-item estimate.
Our Delta Service Process – Step by Step
- 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the valve, trim, cartridge, and rough-in condition. If it’s a Monitor 14 series with a seized cartridge, we confirm pressure-balance failure by running the hot and cold lines together. If it’s a leak behind the tile, we trace the water path to its source before cutting anything.
- 2
Written estimate. You get the price in writing before any work starts. That includes what we’ll replace, what we’ll reuse (like an existing Lahara trim kit that’s still in good shape), and any tile, waterproofing, or rough-in work that the job requires. No verbal numbers that grow. No surprises.
- 3
Repair or install. We rebuild or replace the valve with OEM parts, set the rough-in at the correct depth for your finish wall, and mount the trim so it seats square against the tile or fiberglass surround. If it’s a tub-to-shower conversion or full bathroom remodel, we handle waterproofing, wall board, tile, and glass as a single sequence, not as handed-off subs.
- 4
Test and walkthrough. We pressurize and run the valve through multiple cycles, check for drips at the escutcheon and bonnet nut, and verify that the pressure-balance is steady when another fixture runs. We walk you through what we did, what we used, and what to watch for.
- 5
Written warranty. Every completed project is covered by a written guarantee with stated terms, including what’s covered, what’s excluded, and for how long – 365 days from the completion date under our Done Right Promise. If the repair or installation fails within that year, we return at no charge. No dispute process, no conditions.

AfterDelta Products We Service & Install in Los Angeles
Our technicians work on Delta Monitor 13/14 Series shower valves, MultiChoice Universal R10000 rough-in systems, and the Lahara, Linden, and Trinsic bath and kitchen faucet collections. We also service older Classic and Foundations kitchen faucets from the 1990s and 2000s builds that are still common in Los Angeles kitchens. We keep Monroe and Delta OEM cartridges, seals, and handle kits stocked locally so most cartridge replacements are a single-visit repair. For rough-in replacements and conversions, we order the specific Delta valve body and trim to match your existing finish.
We Also Service These Brands
Delta is one line we know well, but we’re not limited to it. Our crews install and service KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinetry, Cambria, Silestone, and Caesarstone surfaces, and Kohler, Moen, Toto, and Grohe fixtures. If a remodel combination means Delta valve with Kohler trim, or a kitchen faucet swap alongside new Cambria countertops, we can handle the whole scope in one sequence.
FAQs – Delta Construction Service in Los Angeles

The pressure-balance cartridge inside your Monitor 13/14 series valve has failed. When it works, it compensates for pressure changes so the shower doesn’t turn cold when someone flushes a toilet. When it seizes from hard LA water, the handle spins freely and temperature swings become normal. We rebuild the cartridge with a genuine Delta OEM part, and the handle is steady again. Most of these repairs are same-visit jobs. Call (803) 680-2547 for an exact quote.
It depends on the rough-in’s age and condition. The R10000 rough-in covers a lot of model years and can often stay in place if the body isn’t pitted and the depth is correct for the new finish wall. If we see pitting, cracking, or signs of a wall-cavity leak, the rough-in comes out. We make that call before we build over it. A written estimate will show you the option with and without a rough-in replacement.
Yes. Delta’s Lahara and Linden trim kits are still current, so we can set a new MultiChoice rough-in and keep or install your exact existing trim. If you’re changing finishes, we can also switch you to Trinsic or another current Delta collection. Either way, the trim mounts to the same universal valve body.
Yes, a thermostatic valve senses water temperature directly and adjusts faster than the pressure-balance cartridge found in Monitor 13/14 series valves. But a lot of Los Angeles homes don’t need a thermal valve to fix the scalding – a fresh pressure-balance cartridge in the existing body often does the job. We’ll test the valve and show you the data before recommending the more expensive path.
In our experience, a Delta OEM cartridge in Los Angeles lasts 5 to 8 years before hard water scale degrades it. Areas with especially hard water, like the San Fernando Valley, Glendale, and parts of the Westside, can shorten that. Aftermarket cartridges generally fail within 18 to 24 months here. We always quote a genuine Delta OEM cartridge as the standard.
