Cover Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you’re searching for Cover bathroom remodeling in Los Angeles, you likely have a bathroom that’s failing and you want it fixed right, priced in writing, and done by people you can verify before they walk through your door. A full Cover bathroom remodel in Los Angeles typically runs $10,620 to $33,040 installed, depending on the size of the space, the fixtures you choose, and whether we’re moving plumbing or keeping the existing layout. Most owners discover they need us after a shower pan starts leaking into the ceiling below, tile grout gives out around the tub, or a vanity has swelled so badly the drawers won’t close. You don’t need a patch job. You need the bathroom rebuilt so it stops costing you money in water damage and temporary fixes.

Mason Remodeling is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Cover. But we work with Cover-model bathrooms across Los Angeles every week, and we stock the plumbing fixtures, valve assemblies, waterproofing components, and trim kits that these bathrooms commonly need when they’re rebuilt. We also carry specification-grade materials from KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for homeowners who want a vanity or countertop that matches the original Cover look without paying for a nameplate.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover bathrooms in Los Angeles fall into a few distinct generations, and each one has its own quirks when it comes to replacement parts. Older Cover-model bathrooms built before roughly 2015 typically used standard 8-inch widespread faucet spacing and a standard 60-inch tub, which means off-the-shelf Kohler, Moen, or Toto fixtures drop in without modification. Newer Cover bathrooms built after that period often use 4-inch centerset faucet spacing on smaller vanities, and some shower valve rough-ins are positioned 2 inches closer to the wall than the industry standard. That 2 inches matters. If you buy a new shower trim kit off the shelf without checking the rough-in depth, the handle won’t seat, and you’ll be back at the supply house before the weekend is over.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see most often in Los Angeles: Cover-model bathrooms in condos and apartments built between 2016 and 2021 frequently use a proprietary shower valve with a non-standard cartridge thread. The OEM part is backordered more often than not. A quality aftermarket equivalent from a plumbing supply house on Washington Boulevard or up on Ventura Boulevard will work, but you need to match the valve body number stamped on the brass, not the Cover model number on the wall plate. We carry the common aftermarket cartridges on our trucks, along with the trim adapters that make a standard Moen or Kohler handle sit correctly on the old Cover valve.

Signs Your Cover Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Water staining on the ceiling below the bathroom. This is the classic shower pan failure. The waterproof membrane under the tile has cracked or separated at the drain collar, and water is traveling down the waste pipe chase. By the time you see the stain, the subfloor is already wet.
  • Grout cracking along the tub-to-wall joint. The tub flexes every time it fills with water. If the original installer used regular sanded grout where the tub meets the tile instead of a flexible caulk joint, that grout will crack within a few years in Los Angeles because our dry air cycles shrink the framing slightly.
  • Vanity doors that swell at the bottom edge. Cover vanity cabinets are typically MDF with a laminate face. Once moisture gets under the laminate at the toe kick, the MDF absorbs it and starts to crumble. You can’t sand it back. The panel has to be replaced, and often the whole vanity.
  • Shower valve that drips or won’t fully shut off. Hard water in Los Angeles, especially in the Valley and along the foothills, eats through valve seats and O-rings faster than most people realize. A drip that starts slow will turn into a constant stream within six months.
  • Exhaust fan that sounds like a lawn mower. The original Cover fan motors are not sealed against humidity well. In a Los Angeles bathroom without a window, that fan runs for years in a moist environment, and the bearing grease washes out. It’s not a repair item. It’s a replacement item.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled hall bathroom with subway tile and a floating vanity

A Cover bathroom remodel in Los Angeles runs $10,620 to $33,040 installed. That’s the honest range, and where you land depends on three things: square footage, whether you’re moving plumbing, and the finish level you choose. A standard 5×8 bathroom with a tub-shower combo, new vanity, new toilet, new tile, and standard fixtures lands between $10,620 and $14,160. A larger primary bathroom with a walk-in shower, custom glass, a Cambria or Silestone countertop, and upgraded tile work can push into the $25,000 to $33,040 range. Moving a toilet, relocating a shower drain, or opening walls to address failed waterproofing all add cost because the labor changes from replace-in-place to structural work.

Every quote we write in Los Angeles includes the full parts list, the labor, the haul-away, and the drywall patch and paint on walls we open. No allowances with vague language, no change orders when we discover what the last guy hid behind the tile. The written price we give you before work starts is the price you pay. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship for a full year from the completion date. If something wasn’t done right, we come back and make it right at no cost.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely check yourself: whether the shutoff valve at the toilet is tight, whether the visible caulk around the tub is pulling away from the walls, and whether the fan is actually pulling air when it runs. Hold a single square of toilet paper up to the fan grille. If it doesn’t stick, the fan isn’t venting, and that’s a moisture problem that will destroy your paint and eventually your drywall.

Where DIY goes wrong on a Cover bathroom remodel is almost always in the waterproofing layer. Water doesn’t show itself politely. A shower pan that isn’t sloped correctly, a niche that isn’t sealed behind the tile, a tub flange that wasn’t primed before the surround went in: all of that leaks quietly for months before you see anything. I’m Isaac Pruett, and I grew up in Sylmar watching half the neighborhood fix what the last guy did wrong. We still fix what the last guy did wrong. The difference is we do it under a written price and a written guarantee, and you’ll know the name and face of every person we send before they pull into your driveway. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll schedule the walkthrough.
