Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you’re planning a home addition or ADU in Los Angeles with Caesarstone surfaces, the installed project cost typically runs $53,100 – $153,400 depending on square footage, foundation work, and the number of Caesarstone slabs required. Mason Remodeling supplies and installs Caesarstone quartz on every addition and ADU we build, and we’ll give you a written line-item price before any tool touches your property. Most Los Angeles homeowners reach out after realizing their existing countertop material won’t survive an addition, or they want the new space to match the Caesarstone already in the main house.
The part that fails first in these projects is rarely the stone itself. It’s usually the substrate under it, the seam joins between old and new work, or the edge profile that got cut wrong by a crew rushing to finish. We’ve rebuilt enough of those to know exactly what to look for.
Which Caesarstone Models This Applies To

Caesarstone’s quartz lines currently available for Los Angeles additions and ADUs fall into three main families: the Classico collection (established colorways like Pure White 1141 and London Grey 5000), the Supernatural collection (patterns with deeper veining), and the Outdoor collection for covered exterior kitchen spaces. Each slab is manufactured to a standard 120 x 57 inches, but thickness varies between 20mm and 30mm. That thickness matters when matching existing Caesarstone: a 20mm surface in your main kitchen cannot be seamlessly joined to a 30mm slab in the ADU without a visible step at the seam.
If you’re matching to an existing counter, check for the Caesarstone label printed on the underside of the slab or note the color code from your original order. All Caesarstone slabs carry permanent identifying marks that help us pinpoint the exact color and finish. As an independent service provider, we’re not affiliated with Caesarstone directly, but we order from authorized distributors and inspect every slab for color consistency before it reaches your job site.

Signs Your Caesarstone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- Chipping along the edge profile. This usually means the fabricator cut the slab with the wrong blade or polished too aggressively. Caesarstone is dense quartz, but a dull diamond blade creates micro-fractures that turn into visible chips within a year of installation. We see this most often on seams where the addition ties into existing cabinetry.
- Seam separation or lippage. When the seam between two slabs becomes uneven, the installer didn’t shim or level the substrate properly. This isn’t the stone failing; it’s the work underneath it. In Los Angeles, seismic movement and older homes that settle unevenly make this a common issue.
- Staining that won’t lift, especially near the sink. Caesarstone is non-porous, so true staining is rare. If water rings or food stains set in, the slab likely wasn’t sealed around the sink cutout, or the silicone around the fixtures has failed and water is wicking into the seams from below.
- Dullness or patchy sheen. A quality Caesarstone install has a uniform finish across the entire surface. Patchy dullness suggests the installer polished one section but not another, often around seams or cutouts. It shows most under LED lighting in Los Angeles kitchens and ADU kitchenettes.
- Grinding or stuttering when opening drawers near the counter. If cabinets weren’t re-leveled before the stone went on, drawers rub against the underside of the Caesarstone. The friction lets you know the kitchen addition wasn’t built square.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Caesarstone addition or ADU project in Los Angeles, you’re looking at these ballpark ranges:
- Full home addition with Caesarstone counters: $53,100 – $153,400
- ADU construction (full build): $106,200 – $259,600
- Garage conversion with kitchenette and Caesarstone: $35,400 – $94,400
- Kitchen remodel with Caesarstone counters: $16,520 – $53,100
- Countertop installation in new space only: $2,360 – $7,670 per surface
What pushes a project toward the top of the range in Los Angeles is structural work, foundation upgrades, seismic retrofitting, and the number of cabinets and slabs. Every Mason Remodeling quote includes the parts, fabrication, delivery, installation, permits, and the written line-item price before any work begins. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the craftsmanship, and if a seam fails or a Caesarstone install isn’t right within a year of completion, we return and fix it at no cost.
DIY or Call Us?
Caesarstone slabs weigh roughly 12 to 15 pounds per square foot. A standard 120 by 57 inch slab runs north of 500 pounds. That’s not a two-person weekend project. What you can safely do is check your existing counters for the warning signs we listed above, measure your current slab thickness, and note where the seam lines are so you can tell us exactly what you’re matching. Cutting, polishing, and setting Caesarstone requires specialized tooling and know-how. A slab dropped on a Los Angeles jobsite shatters, and that’s a mistake you don’t want to learn from personally.
If you’re in the planning stage for an addition or ADU, call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll walk the property, measure, and give you a written price. You’ll know who’s coming, what it costs, and that it’s backed up. Everything else is just noise.
FAQs

A properly installed Caesarstone surface lasts 20 to 30 years or more, even in Los Angeles heat, because quartz is non-porous and UV-stable. The limiting factor is almost never the stone; it’s the substrate below it and the quality of the seam work. Call (803) 680-2547 to have us inspect your existing install and tell you honestly what’s failing.
Small chips can be filled and polished to near invisibility, and seam separation can sometimes be re-leveled and re-bonded. Full cracks running through the slab almost always mean replacement, because quartz cannot be structurally glued the way natural stone can. Get a free estimate from us and we’ll tell you if repair is realistic.
Once your cabinets are installed and the template is cut, the Caesarstone slab is typically templated, fabricated, and installed within one to two weeks, with the physical install on site taking about half a day. New additions and ADUs add framing, electrical, and plumbing time. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll give you a real timeline based on your specific project.
We source Caesarstone through authorized distributors in the Los Angeles area and handle the ordering, inspection, and delivery for you. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone when you want to match other surfaces. You’ll get the slab details before fabrication so you can approve the exact color and finish.
