Bufftech Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your Bufftech driveway or paver section has cracked, shifted, or started separating at the joints, we stock and install Bufftech-compatible replacement parts across Los Angeles, with typical parts-plus-labor work running $295 – $825 for sealing and small repairs, and $8260 – $21240 if you’re redoing a full paver driveway. Most owners discover the failure the same way: after a rain, the section near the curb settles and leaves a lip that catches the car bumper, or the snap-fit edge pieces start pulling away from the walkway. You don’t need a full re-design; you need the right part matched to your Bufftech series, and a crew that shows up with a written price before any tool comes off the truck.
Which Bufftech Models This Applies To

Bufftech driveway and paver products are not one universal line. The two series you’ll most often encounter in Los Angeles are the older Bufftech Estate pavers, which use a tongue-and-groove edge profile and 2 3/8-inch thickness, and the newer Bufftech Pro Series, which moved to a wider 3-inch profile with a different locking lip. The compatibility gotcha is this: a Pro Series replacement edge will not seat into an Estate paver bed without shimming, and forcing it will crack the corner within the first hot summer. Look for the raised mold number on the underside of any intact paver; the last three digits tell us which profile family it belongs to, and we’ll match that before you spend a dollar.
For the OEM-versus-aftermarket decision on Bufftech specifically: OEM pavers arrive pre-finished with the factory UV-stabilized color coat, but lead times from the East Coast run 3 – 6 weeks. Quality aftermarket equivalents from local Los Angeles suppliers are generally within 1 – 2% on color match and available same-week. We lay out both options with line-item pricing so you decide with the facts in front of you. We include KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone parts for other projects, but for hardscaping we keep our Bufftech stock and supplier relationships tight.

Signs Your Bufftech Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Edge pavers lifting at the curb line. This is usually the base course washing out underneath, not a paver failure. In Los Angeles, the repeated wet-dry cycle of irrigation overspray on the parkway strip erodes sand faster than almost anything else.
- Color fading to chalky white on the south-facing sections. Bufftech’s older color coat was never rated for the UV intensity of a full San Fernando Valley summer. The structural paver is usually fine; the surface coat has simply given up.
- Hairline cracks running through multiple pavers in a line. That line is the expansion joint working underneath. The pavers are telling you the base shifted; replacing only the cracked pieces without addressing the joint means you’ll see the same crack next year.
- Sand washing out between joints after every rain. Polymeric sand in Los Angeles fails faster than manufacturers admit, especially where sprinklers hit the same joint daily. Re-sanding is cheap; ignoring it is how you get weed roots and ants by June.
- Paver sections rocking underfoot. A rocking paver means the sand bed underneath has compacted unevenly. One rocker is a 20-minute fix; a whole field of rockers is a base problem, not a paver problem.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, most Bufftech-specific driveway and paver work falls into three ranges. A targeted repair, replacing up to 20 pavers and re-sanding the affected joints, runs $295 – $825. A partial driveway section replacement, where we cut out a failed area, re-compact the base, and install matched pavers, runs $4130 – $12980 depending on square footage. A full paver driveway installation runs $8260 – $21240 in LA, driven by access, site prep, and whether the existing base can be salvaged.
Every price is a written line-item quote before work starts, not a verbal guess that grows on the final bill. The number includes the Bufftech or matched pavers, base prep, labor, haul-away of the failed section, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t right within a year of completion, we come back and make it right at no cost. No dispute process, no conditions.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the mold number on the underside of a loose paver, photograph the failed section, and look for irrigation overspray hitting the joints. What you should not do is attempt to lift and re-set a large section of Bufftech driveway yourself. The pavers are heavier than they look, and pairing a new edge profile onto an old bed takes experience to avoid breaking corners. Isaac Pruett grew up in Sylmar watching neighbors fix what the last guy did wrong; the lesson stuck. FAQs

Structurally, 20 – 30 years is realistic if the base was built correctly. The surface color coat, however, typically shows significant fading after 8 – 12 years of Los Angeles sun, especially on south and west exposures without shade. The paver underneath usually outlives the finish.
We can assess whether you’re looking at a cosmetic or structural issue. Call (803) 680-2547 for an exact quote on repair versus replacement, estimates are free.
No. Once the concrete body of a paver is cracked, no filler or epoxy will restore its structural integrity. The good news is that a single matched paver replacement is one of the least expensive repairs we do in Los Angeles, and we keep common Bufftech profiles on hand.
Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll identify your profile over the phone.
A targeted repair of 10 – 20 pavers with re-sanding typically takes one day. A partial section replacement runs one to two days depending on base prep. A full driveway installation runs three to five days, including curing time for the edge restraints.
We’ll give you a written schedule with the quote, so you know what “done” looks like before we start.
We stock the most common Bufftech estate and Pro Series profiles in neutral tones on our Los Angeles trucks, and we can order OEM color-matched pieces for exact-match replacements, typically arriving in 3 – 6 weeks. If you’re open to a quality aftermarket match at 1 – 2% color variance, we can start most repairs same-week.
