Boral Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you have a Boral paver driveway or patio in Los Angeles and you’re dealing with cracked, sunken, or shifting pavers, we stock Boral-compatible products and install replacements at $4,130 to $21,240 depending on the scope. Most paver repairs and partial driveway rebuilds are done within one to two days once we’re on site. The most common way Los Angeles homeowners discover they need this page is a paver that suddenly sinks after a winter rain, an edge row that’s started spreading into the lawn, or efflorescence that won’t scrub off no matter what they try.
Boral is one of the better-known names in the masonry world, and their pavers show up in a lot of mid-2000s LA driveways and patios. Mason Remodeling is an independent contractor, not affiliated with Boral, but we’ve been matching and installing their pavers in Los Angeles for years. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll help you identify what you have before anyone digs anything up.
Which Boral Models This Applies To

Boral’s concrete paver line includes a few series that keep showing up in Los Angeles driveways: the Boral Pavers Classic collection, the Boral Clay Paver line (usually the Boral Clay Max or Boral Old Town patterns), and their Boral Stone series made to look like cut flagstone. The compatibility gotcha with Boral is color batch variation: the same named color from two production years can differ visibly side by side. If you’re matching a few replacement pavers to a 15-year-old driveway, we’ll blend from multiple salvaged or new batches rather than promise a one-to-one match that will never look right in Los Angeles sun.
To identify what you have, flip over a loose paver and look for the Boral stamp on the underside, along with a plant code and sometimes a date. Measure the paver: most Boral residential pavers run 60mm or 80mm thick, with 80mm being standard for anything that carries vehicle weight. If you’re at 60mm and the driveway is sinking, that’s usually the first thing we correct. For replacements we recommend genuine Boral pavers or a proven aftermarket match from Techo-Bloc or Belgard where the dimensions and color family line up. OEM is worth it when you want the exact color; a quality equivalent is worth it when the old line has been discontinued.

Signs Your Boral Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken or dipping pavers near the driveway apron: This is almost always a base failure underneath, not a failing paver. Los Angeles clay soil expands and contracts with rain, and a base that was never compacted properly finally gives way. The paver itself is usually still fine.
- Edge rows spreading outward into the lawn or curb: The edge restraint has failed, usually a plastic or aluminum strip that’s rusted or pulled loose. Once the edge goes, every paver behind it starts drifting.
- White chalky residue that won’t wash off: Efflorescence, and it’s common on Boral pavers in Los Angeles because our hard water carries minerals through the concrete. It’s cosmetic, but persistent, and it’s a sign the paver is absorbing more water than it should.
- Cracks that run through multiple pavers in a straight line: Pavers crack in patterns. A straight line through three or four units is usually a settlement crack in the base, not random wear. Straight lines mean the ground moved; individual random cracks mean the paver took a hard hit.
- Sand between joints washing out every time it rains: The joint sand is gone and water is getting under the pavers. In Los Angeles, where our “rainy season” can dump more water in a week than we see all summer, this accelerates base erosion fast.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Los Angeles, Boral paver replacement work ranges from about $4,130 for a small patio repair or section replacement, up to $21,240 for a full driveway rebuild with new base, edge restraint, and sand. A targeted repair where we replace 20 to 40 pavers and re-set a sunken section typically lands between $1,200 and $3,500, including labor and materials. What drives the difference: driveway square footage, whether we’re rebuilding the base or just replacing units, access for equipment, and whether the old pavers can be re-used. Some jobs are repair jobs; some are re-install jobs. We write both the same way.
You get a written price before any work starts, and that price includes the pavers, base material, sand, labor, and haul-away of the old material. If we open it up and find base damage we couldn’t see from the surface, we stop and bring you a revised number before we keep digging. Every project is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: Is the edge restraint visible and intact? Is water pooling anywhere after a rain? Is the sand between the joints still there? Those answers help us diagnose before we even show up.
What we’d caution against is pulling up sunken pavers and trying to re-set them yourself. The reasons are less about danger and more about outcome: you’ll likely re-set the paver on a base that’s still failing, and you’ll do it without re-compacting what’s underneath. The paver sits fine for a season, then sinks again. You’ve done the labor twice and it looks worse than before. If you want us to handle it, call (803) 680-2547. We’ll match the pavers, fix the base, and you won’t redo this in the spring.
FAQs

Boral concrete pavers typically last 25 to 40 years in Los Angeles, but the base underneath them is what fails first, usually at 15 to 20 years if it wasn’t compacted in lifts with the right material. The pavers themselves rarely need replacing; the base and joint sand do. If your driveway is 20 years old and failing, you’re probably looking at a base rebuild, not a paver problem. Call (803) 680-2547 for a free estimate and we’ll tell you which one it is.
A single cracked paver can’t be meaningfully repaired, but it can be replaced in under an hour if we have a color match on hand. The bigger question is whether the crack is isolated or part of a base failure pattern. We’ll pull a few pavers and look underneath before we tell you to replace anything. Call us and we’ll assess it honestly.
Most section replacements take one to two days in Los Angeles, including removing the old pavers, re-compacting the base, re-setting the units, and re-sanding the joints. A full driveway rebuild is usually three to five days. We’ll give you a firm timeline in writing with your estimate, and we stick to it.
We stock common Boral color runs and dimensions used across Los Angeles, and we can source specific lines through our supplier network when the exact batch isn’t on the truck. If your pavers are discontinued, we’ll source a close match from Techo-Bloc, Belgard, or a complementary Boral line. Call (803) 680-2547 and we can check availability for your color while you’re on the phone.
