Belgard Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Belgard kitchen remodeling in Los Angeles typically costs $16,520 to $53,100 for a full kitchen done right, and most projects run eight to twelve weeks from demo to final walkthrough. If you’ve got Belgard pavers, veneer stone, or outdoor kitchen elements that are failing or looking tired against a kitchen you’re ready to rebuild, we can source the matching product lines and build the remodel around what you already love. The most common call we get starts with a homeowner staring at a cracked Belgard paver outside the kitchen door, or a veneer stone face that’s started pulling away from the wall, and realizing the whole kitchen space needs more than a patch job.
We’re an independent Los Angeles remodeling contractor, not affiliated with Belgard, but we’ve been installing their hardscape and stone products since 2004 because the materials hold up in our climate when they’re set correctly. What we hear from homeowners is that the Belgard product itself rarely fails first. It’s usually the substrate, the drainage, or a previous installation that skipped a step. That matters because your kitchen remodel budget shouldn’t get eaten by redoing someone else’s shortcut.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To

Belgard doesn’t make kitchen cabinets or countertops. What Belgard brings to a Los Angeles kitchen project is their paver line for outdoor kitchens, walkways, and transition spaces, plus their veneer stone for accent walls, range hood surrounds, and kitchen islands. The product families we work with most are the Belgard pavers in the Cambridge Cobble, Lafitt Rustic Slab, and Mega-Arbel collections, and their stone veneer lines like the Dublin Cobble and Weston Stone profiles.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: Belgard pavers are manufactured in regional plants, and California-sourced Belgard products have slightly different color blends than what you’d find at a big-box store that trucked them in from Arizona or Nevada. If you’re trying to match a paver you bought five years ago, we need the original product code from the pallet or a leftover paver from the original job. Guessing the color name without the code leads to a patch that’s visibly wrong in afternoon light. On the veneer stone side, the profile thickness matters. Belgard’s Dublin Cobble veneer runs about 1 to 2 inches thick, while the Weston Stone profiles can go up to 3 inches. If you’re putting veneer around a range hood or on an island face, that thickness changes how the finished surface meets your countertop overhang.
For OEM versus aftermarket: Belgard’s own products have no meaningful aftermarket equivalent for pavers and veneer. The “parts” in a Belgard kitchen remodel are really the matching units, polymeric sand, edge restraints, and the right base material. We stock Belgard-approved polymeric sand and edge restraints on our trucks, and we order exact-match pavers and veneer directly from the regional Belgard supplier so the color batch codes line up.

Signs Your Belgard Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Cracked or chipped pavers at the kitchen entry or outdoor kitchen floor. This almost always points to a base that was compacted in too few lifts, or water undermining the edge. In Los Angeles, our freeze-thaw cycle is mild but our clay soils expand and contract enough that a thin base will telegraph every crack upward within two or three years.
- Veneer stone pulling away from the wall behind the range or on the island face. If you can slide a putty knife behind a stone without much resistance, the mortar bond has failed. This is usually a curing issue from the original install: too hot, too fast, or mortar that skinned over before the stone was set.
- Sand washing out between pavers every time it rains or you hose down the outdoor kitchen. Los Angeles gets most of its rain in a few heavy events. Poor edge restraint means the first good storm pushes the polymeric sand out and the pavers start shifting. You’ll see gaps widen within weeks.
- Uneven paver surfaces that trip you at the kitchen door threshold. A paver that’s sunk a half-inch in one corner means the base wasn’t leveled or the soil underneath settled. It’s a tripping hazard and a sign the whole section needs to come up and be reset, not just tapped down.
- White, chalky residue blooming across the stone veneer near the sink or dishwasher. That’s efflorescence, and it tells you water is getting behind the stone. If the original installer didn’t install a proper moisture barrier behind the veneer or flashed the sink run correctly, the stone will keep wicking moisture and shedding it on the surface.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Belgard-integrated kitchen remodel in Los Angeles runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on the size of the kitchen, the extent of the Belgard work, and whether you’re doing veneer, pavers, or both. On the lower end, that covers a modest kitchen with cabinet refacing, countertop replacement, and a small paver threshold or accent wall. The upper end includes full cabinet replacement, an island rebuild with Belgard veneer facing, new countertops, and an outdoor kitchen paver area.
What drives the price most is the prep work you can’t see. Proper base excavation for pavers, cement board and moisture barrier behind veneer, and subfloor correction before cabinet install are the difference between a five-year kitchen and a twenty-year kitchen. Our written price includes all of it, line by line, before the first tool comes out. We don’t give verbal estimates that grow on the final bill. If the scope changes because we open a wall and find something wrong, we bring it to you in writing before we spend another dollar.
Every project is covered by our written guarantee, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise means if the work isn’t right within a year of completion, we come back and make it right at no cost. No dispute process, no conditions.

There are things worth checking yourself. If a paver feels loose, lift it and look at the sand underneath. If the sand is gone and you see gaps around the edge, you know the edge restraint failed. That’s useful information for us. If veneer stone sounds hollow when you tap it, that’s a failed bond, and you should stop using the area under it as a cooking or prep space until it’s inspected. Pulling veneer off a wall yourself often takes the surrounding stones with it, and resetting veneer takes a level surface, the right mortar for the profile thickness, and patience. Paver resetting is less dangerous but still back-breaking if you don’t have the compactor and the right lift depth.
Isaac Pruett grew up in Sylmar, and he’s spent nearly two decades watching Los Angeles homeowners try to save money by doing paver and veneer work themselves. It rarely saves what they think it saves once they’ve bought the wrong sand, rented the wrong compactor, and called us to redo the edge restraint anyway. FAQs

A properly installed Belgard paver surface in Los Angeles lasts 20 to 30 years before the pavers themselves need replacement, though you’ll likely top-dress the polymeric sand every three to five years. The failure point is almost never the paver; it’s the base and drainage underneath.
Call (803) 680-2547 for an exact assessment of your existing base. Our estimates are free, and you’ll get a written price before any digging starts.
Individual veneer stones can be reset if the surrounding bond is still sound and the moisture barrier behind them is intact. If the failure is widespread or you can see water damage behind the stone, a patch will last maybe a year before it fails again.

A paver threshold or accent wall installs in two to four days. A full Belgard veneer kitchen island face with matching pavers at the entry takes one to two weeks, depending on cure times and weather. We set realistic completion dates in the written scope of work before we start.

We stock Belgard-approved polymeric sand, edge restraints, base materials, and setting mortars on our trucks. The pavers and veneer stone themselves are ordered from the regional Belgard supplier after we confirm the exact product code and color batch with you, so you get a true match, not a close-enough guess.
