Abodu Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Abodu kitchen remodeling in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 to $53,100, depending on kitchen size, cabinet grade, and whether you’re replacing just the failing components or doing a full gut. We stock Abodu-compatible hardware, drawer slides, soft-close hinges, and panel-mount systems, and we can usually start within a week of your estimate. Most owners discover they need us when a drawer won’t close, a door sags, or the melamine facing on a cabinet box starts peeling after a few years of humidity cycles.
If you’ve got an Abodu kitchen and something’s failed, you’re not going crazy. Abodu builds a genuinely good cabinet box, but the hardware and fastening details are where these kitchens show their age first, especially in Los Angeles where we get dry heat followed by damp coastal mornings that make MDF and particleboard expand and contract more than most people realize. We see it in kitchens from Echo Park to Woodland Hills: the boxes hold up, but the moving parts and the edge banding give out. That’s a fixable problem, and it’s a lot cheaper than replacing the whole kitchen.
Which Abodu Models This Applies To

We work on the full range of Abodu kitchen products, from ADU kitchenettes in the 60-square-foot range up to full-size kitchens in their one- and two-bedroom units. The cabinet line Abodu uses is a euro-style frameless system, which means the cabinet box is a melamine-wrapped panel with no face frame. The doors and drawer fronts mount directly to the box with cup hinges and drawer runners that are standardized across most of their builds since roughly 2019. If your Abodu was installed before that, you may have a mix of European hardware brands, which means a swap is still straightforward but we need to match the boring pattern (the hole spacing where the hinge cup seats into the door) rather than assuming a one-size-fits-all replacement.
The fast way to identify what you’ve got: open a door and look at the hinge. Most Abodu kitchens use a 35mm cup hinge, which is the most common bore diameter in North America, but the overlay (how far the door covers the cabinet edge) varies between 1/2 inch and 1-1/4 inches depending on which cabinet run you’re looking at. That’s the gotcha: two identical-looking doors in the same Abodu kitchen can require different hinge plates. We carry both on the truck. When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket, the honest answer for Abodu is this: the hinges and slides Abodu installs are quality European hardware, and a proper grade replacement from Blum or Hettich will last longer than the original. There’s no reason to track down an “Abodu-branded” hinge because Abodu doesn’t make hinges. They buy them, same as we do.
Mason Remodeling is an independent contractor in Los Angeles. We’re not affiliated with Abodu, and we don’t pretend to be. What we do is know their products well enough to fix them without guessing.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Abodu Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- A door that won’t stay closed. The spring inside a soft-close hinge wears out, or the hinge plate screws strip out of the particleboard panel. In dry Los Angeles heat, the board can actually crumble around the screw, which means we need to fill, redrill, or move the plate slightly.
- A drawer that grinds or catches halfway. The roller or ball-bearing slide has lost a bearing or bent from an overloaded drawer. Abodu drawers are euro-style with side-mount slides, and once the slide loses a bearing, the drawer will keep working badly until it eventually jams. This is a $30-to-$80 part, not a reason to replace the cabinet.
- Edge banding lifting at the sink base. This is the Abodu-specific failure we see most in Los Angeles. Even a small sink drip that goes unnoticed for a month will swell the exposed edge of the melamine panel, and the iron-on edge banding peels back. Once the edge is compromised, the panel will keep absorbing moisture. It needs to be dried, re-edged, and sealed.
- Soft-close mechanism stopped working, but the hinge still moves fine. That’s the damper piston inside the hinge cup. It’s a $12 part. When one goes, the rest usually follow within a year, so we’ll often recommend replacing the dampers on all matching doors in that run while we’re there.
- A wall cabinet that’s pulled away from the wall by a hair. Abodu installs cabinets with a rail-mounted hanging system, and in an earthquake-prone city like Los Angeles, those mounting screws can work loose over time. If you can fit a credit card between the cabinet back and the drywall, it’s time to tighten, reinforce, and check the load capacity before the whole cabinet decides to test gravity.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a targeted hardware repair or a partial cabinet reface, you’re usually looking at the $2,360 to $7,670 range for countertop-level work and $4,720 to $15,340 for a full cabinet installation. A complete Abodu kitchen remodel, where we’re replacing cabinets, counters, backsplash, and possibly reconfiguring the layout to fix whatever the original build got wrong, lands between $16,520 and $53,100 in Los Angeles. The spread comes down to three things: how many linear feet of cabinetry you have, whether you’re keeping the existing cabinet boxes or replacing them, and whether your Abodu kitchen is in an attached unit where we have to work around existing plumbing and electrical, or a detached ADU where the runs are simpler.
Every estimate is written, line by line, before any work begins. You’ll see parts, labor, and disposal separated. No surprises on the final invoice. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something’s not right within a year of completion, we fix it at no cost to you. That includes the hardware we install.

Most Abodu kitchen repairs are not dangerous to attempt, which is a nice change from garage springs and electrical panels. That said, the most common DIY disappointment we see is a homeowner who buys a replacement hinge on a marketplace site, drills it in, and then finds the door binds because the overlay was wrong. The boring pattern and the plate height have to match, and there’s a reason our guys spend years learning to eyeball a door gap to within a millimeter. If you want to try, start with a single hinge and a sharp pencil. If the door doesn’t hang dead square after 20 minutes, stop. You’re not failing, you’re just discovering why cabinet hardware is a trade. Isaac Pruett has been doing this long enough to know that the cheapest call is the one made before the cabinet gets damaged.
If you’d rather skip the trial and error, call us at (803) 680-2547 and we’ll send someone who knows exactly what’s on your Abodu unit before they walk in the door. You’ll know their name and see their photo before they arrive. That’s not a courtesy, it’s the standard.
FAQs

In Los Angeles, expect the cabinet boxes to last 15 to 20 years, but the hardware – hinges, slides, and soft-close dampers – will usually need replacement in years 5 to 8. The reason is simple: the moving parts take all the wear, and our dry climate accelerates the breakdown of plastic components inside the dampers. If your doors and drawer fronts are solid but the hardware’s tired, a hardware refresh is usually under $1,000 and can buy you another decade. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll tell you exactly what’s worth replacing and what’s still got life in it.
Yes, and that’s our default recommendation when the cabinet box is dry, square, and firmly attached to the wall. We can replace hinges and slides, re-edge peeling banding, tighten loose mounting rails, and replace damaged panels while keeping your original layout. A full replacement only makes sense when there’s moisture damage to the box, structural movement, or you’re already planning a layout change. Repairs typically run $300 to $2,000 depending on scope. Call (803) 680-2547 for a written quote, free of charge.
A standard hardware swap – replacing all hinges, slides, and dampers in an Abodu kitchen – takes one technician about 4 to 6 hours. If we’re also re-edging panels or addressing mounting issues, plan for a full day. Most repairs finish the same day we start, and we leave the kitchen cleaner than we found it.
Yes. We carry 35mm and 26mm cup hinges in multiple overlays, soft-close and standard dampers, side-mount drawer slides in 12 to 21 inch lengths, and the screws, plates, and mounts that match Abodu’s euro-style cabinet system. If your unit has a less common configuration, we’ll have the exact part within 2 to 3 business days. Call (803) 680-2547 and tell us what failed. We’ll likely have it on the truck before you hang up.
