Dvele Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your Dvele driveway or paver system is cracked, sinking, or shifting, we stock the compatible pavers, edge restraints, base materials, and joint compounds to match your existing install. Driveway and paver repair in Los Angeles typically runs $295 – $2,125 for isolated repairs, while full paver driveway replacement runs $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and access. Most Dvele owners first notice the problem after a rain: a low spot holds water, a paver rocks underfoot, or a section near the garage apron has sunk half an inch below the rest.
We’re an independent Los Angeles service provider, not affiliated with Dvele. That means we can source the exact paver match or a verified equivalent without going through a dealer channel, and we install it on our own schedule. Isaac Pruett has been looking at Los Angeles driveway failures long enough to know the usual culprit before he lifts the first paver: the base, not the stone.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele driveways and paver systems are not model-specific the way a hinge or a drawer slide would be. What matters is the paver type, size, and color series specified in your original build documents. Los Angeles Dvele homes commonly use modular concrete pavers in 3-piece or 4-piece running bond patterns, with standard 60mm or 80mm thickness for vehicular use. The 80mm pavers are the heavy-duty spec: thicker, required for driveway traffic, and the first thing a cheap repair outfit will swap for a 60mm paver to save money. Don’t let that happen to your driveway.
Here’s what to check before you call: look at the edge of the driveway where a paver meets the grass or the garage slab. You’ll see either a smooth “tumbled” paver face or a crisp “chamfered” edge with a defined bevel. Next, measure the paver length with a tape: most Dvele driveways use nominal 6×9 or 6×12 inch pavers, with the 6×12 in a herringbone or running bond. Take a photo of a loose or clean paver next to a tape measure and text it to us before the visit – it saves a trip and gets the price right the first time.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Dvele doesn’t manufacture pavers. The pavers were sourced from a concrete paver manufacturer, likely Belgard or a similar commercial line, and specified by the Dvele design team. We stock matching Belgard and Unilock lines on our trucks and can match color blends by sending a sample to the manufacturer’s lab. If an exact match isn’t available because the paver line was discontinued, we’ll tell you that plainly and show you the two closest options before we install anything.

Signs Your Dvele Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Water pooling in low spots after light rain. This usually means the base layer has settled or eroded. In Los Angeles, the clay-heavy soil near the foothills swells and shrinks with moisture, and the base gives way over time.
- Pavers rocking or shifting when you walk or drive on them. Edge restraints have failed or were never installed properly. Without a solid perimeter, pavers migrate outward, and the driveway slowly spreads at the edges.
- Visible gaps between pavers that keep widening. The joint sand has washed out, and every rain cycle takes more of it. Left alone, the pavers lose their interlock, and the whole surface starts to move as one big, unstable unit.
- A section near the garage apron or sidewalk sinking below the adjacent concrete. This usually points to a deeper base failure or a drainage issue underneath the surface. In Los Angeles, cracked clay drain pipes under driveways are more common than anyone wants to admit.
- Cracks through the body of individual pavers, not just along the joints. This means weight is being concentrated on a small area, often because the base has lost support underneath that spot. The paver is acting as a bridge, and concrete doesn’t flex.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what our Los Angeles paver driveway work costs:
- Isolated paver repair (a few pavers, spot leveling): $295 – $825
- Sectional paver replacement (a bay or partial run with base repair): $1,500 – $4,200
- Paver driveway re-leveling and joint re-sanding: $2,360 – $7,670
- Full paver driveway installation: $8,260 – $21,240
- Concrete driveway installation (if you want to switch material): $5,310 – $14,160
Every one of those numbers includes materials, labor, disposal, and clean-up. The spread depends on access: a wide open driveway in Porter Ranch costs less to prep than a hillside driveway in Echo Park with a 15-foot elevation change. Our practice is a written line-item price before any work starts – you see the paver cost, base material cost, labor, and haul-away as separate lines. That’s the way it should work. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the paver work: if anything we install fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no cost.
DIY or Call Us?
One or two loose pavers next to a garden edge? You can lift them, add a little sand, and tap them back in with a rubber mallet. That’s a weekend-morning job, and we’ll tell anyone that.
But if your driveway has a visible sink, a wide crack pattern, or pavers shifting across a broad area, the base has failed underneath, and that’s a real job. You need compacted aggregate, possibly new drainage, and edge restraints that haven’t pulled loose. A homeowner working on that is going to spend twice as long and get half the compaction, and the same spot will sink again after the first heavy rain season. We also don’t recommend heavy machinery near gas lines or water mains without a professional who can spot the markers. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll put eyes on it – the estimate is free, and you’ll know exactly what’s under your driveway before anything gets lifted.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in Los Angeles should last 25 to 40 years with joint sand refreshed every few years. The pavers themselves won’t wear out; what fails first is the base and edge restraint, especially where clay soil shifts or drainage undermines the foundation. Call (803) 680-2547 if your driveway is under 15 years old and already failing – that’s an installation problem, not a material problem.
Yes, most cracked or sunken sections can be repaired by lifting the affected area, rebuilding the base underneath, and re-setting the original pavers if they’re intact. If pavers are cracked through, we replace just those pieces with a matched color blend. The whole driveway only needs replacing when the damage covers more than half the surface or the base has failed in multiple zones. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll be honest about which bucket your driveway falls into.
An isolated repair is usually done in half a day, including base prep and sand setting. A full paver driveway replacement typically takes 3 to 5 working days depending on the square footage and whether we need to haul out old concrete underneath. We’ll give you the schedule in writing before we start. Call (803) 680-2547 for a project-specific timeline.
We stock common 6×9 and 6×12 concrete pavers in the most typical Los Angeles color blends used on Dvele projects, and we can special-order exact matches from Belgard, Unilock, and Techo-Bloc with a 1 to 2 week lead time. For older Dvele driveways where the original paver line was discontinued, we’ll bring physical samples to your property so you can pick the closest match in daylight, on your actual driveway. Call (803) 680-2547 to confirm what we have on the truck for your specific color and size.
