Cambridge Pavers Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you’re planning a kitchen remodel around Cambridge Pavers materials in Los Angeles, the installed cost typically lands between $16,520 and $53,100, depending on kitchen size, cabinet grade, and countertop selection. We carry Cambridge Pavers-compatible components on our trucks and can usually schedule your walkthrough within a few days. The most common call we get starts the same way: a homeowner pulls out a Cambridge pavers sample, realizes the new kitchen layout won’t work with the existing paver transition, or discovers the pavers installed five years ago have shifted and now catch the dishwasher door.
Cambridge pavers aren’t a kitchen product, and that’s exactly where Los Angeles homeowners hit a wall. The pavers usually run through a patio, entryway, or outdoor kitchen that connects to the main kitchen remodel. When the inside comes out, the outside transition suddenly matters. We handle that seam every week across Los Angeles – the paver threshold, the step-down, the outdoor kitchen counter base that has to tie into the new interior flooring height.
Which Cambridge Pavers Models This Applies To

Cambridge Pavingstones makes four main product lines that show up in Los Angeles kitchen-adjacent projects: the ArmorTec series (their most common residential paver), the Ledgestone series (thin veneer used on outdoor kitchen bases and kitchen-facing walls), the Maytrx wall system, and the RoundTable collection for fire pit and grill surrounds. The compatibility gotcha most Los Angeles homeowners don’t see coming: Ledgestone veneer is a different thickness than ArmorTec pavers, so if your outdoor kitchen base was built with one and your patio with the other, the transition against your new kitchen threshold needs a Schluter strip – the metal trim that seals the edge where tile meets the paver surface – or the two heights will trip someone within a week.
Identifying your exact paver matters before we touch the transition. Flip any loose paver. Cambridge stamps the underside with the product name and mold number. That mold number tells us whether the paver is still in production or whether we need to match from Cambridge’s archived molds – which they still run for warranty claims and repairs. For OEM versus aftermarket: Cambridge ArmorTec pavers have a tighter dimensional tolerance than aftermarket look-alikes made offshore, and for any Los Angeles install within twenty feet of a pool or the coast, the OEM pavers hold their color longer under UV and salt air. We stock ArmorTec and Ledgestone in the three most common Los Angeles colorways on our trucks. Everything else is a two-to-three-day order from the Ontario distribution yard.

Signs Your Cambridge Pavers Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Paver edge spalling where it meets the kitchen threshold. This means water is getting under the paver from the kitchen side – usually a flashing failure behind the threshold, not a paver problem. The paver is the symptom, not the cause.
- Pavers rocking when you step on the transition strip. The sand bed under the pavers has washed out, almost always because the kitchen remodel changed the drainage slope. Los Angeles building code wants a 2% slope away from the house, and a lot of older kitchens were never sloped at all.
- Ledgestone veneer pulling away from the outdoor kitchen base. This is a mortar bond failure, common when the original install happened during a Los Angeles summer heat wave and the mortar cured too fast. Cambridge’s spec calls for damp-curing Ledgestone for 72 hours.
- Efflorescence – white chalky residue – spreading across pavers near the new kitchen’s weep holes. Condensation from the kitchen’s AC or dishwasher line is hitting the pavers. Not structural, but it tells us where the drainage is going wrong before the sand bed fails.
- The outdoor kitchen counter overhang no longer lines up with the new interior counter height. Cambridge outdoor kitchen bases are modular, but they don’t adjust. If the new kitchen spec changed the interior counter height by even half an inch, the outdoor and indoor counters don’t read as one line anymore. Homeowners notice it every time they look through the pass-through window.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

The Cambridge Pavers-specific portion of a Los Angeles kitchen remodel usually runs $3,540 to $11,800 when it involves a paver repair, a threshold rebuild, or a Ledgestone re-veneer on an outdoor kitchen base. That’s inside the larger $16,520 to $53,100 kitchen remodel range, which covers cabinetry, countertops, plumbing, electrical, and finishing. What drives the paver-side number: whether we’re matching existing pavers (no full replacement, just localized repair), whether the sand bed needs re-compaction, and whether the threshold has to be rebuilt to meet the new interior floor height.
Every quote is written, itemized, and delivered before work starts. That’s the Mason Remodeling standard and it’s not optional. You’ll see the paver line, the labor rate, the material cost, and the warranty terms in plain numbers. If the transition fails within 365 days of completion, we come back and make it right at no charge under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. That includes a free second visit – no dispute process, no conditions.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do two things yourself: pull up one loose paver to read the mold number on the underside, and run a garden hose along the paver threshold to see if water pools against the kitchen wall. That drainage check tells us more than any photo ever will. What you shouldn’t do is try to re-set pavers against a new kitchen threshold with bagged sand from a big-box store. That sand is too fine for Los Angeles paver beds; it washes out in the first rain and you’ll be re-doing the repair in six months. Cambridge’s install spec calls for angular, washed concrete sand – not play sand, not beach sand.
If the pavers are shifting near the threshold, or the Ledgestone is pulling away from an outdoor kitchen base, call (803) 680-2547. We’ll send a crew with the right sand, the right mortar, and the right flashing. Isaac Pruett grew up in Sylmar and spent two decades remodeling kitchens across Los Angeles – he still checks the trim work on every project before he signs off. FAQs

Cambridge ArmorTec pavers last 25 to 30 years in Los Angeles before the color fades enough to notice, and the structural life can run 40 years or more. What fails first in our climate is almost never the paver – it’s the sand bed beneath it, usually within 10 to 15 years if the drainage slope was never corrected. Call (803) 680-2547 for an exact assessment of your paver bed.
Yes, in most cases. A chipped or spalled paver can be pulled, replaced with a matching mold number from Cambridge’s current or archived line, and re-set without touching the rest of the patio. If the damage is widespread or the sand bed has washed out underneath, a localized repair won’t hold – and we’ll tell you that before we quote. Estimates are free.
The paver-side work – threshold rebuild, paver repair, Ledgestone re-veneer – typically takes two to four days once we start. The full kitchen remodel runs six to twelve weeks depending on cabinet lead times and countertop fabrication. We give you a written schedule with the written price, and we hold to it. Call (803) 680-2547 to get your project on the calendar.
We stock the three most common ArmorTec colorways and two Ledgestone profiles in our Los Angeles trucks, so most repairs don’t wait on a delivery. For less common colors or the Maytrx wall system, we order from Cambridge’s Ontario distribution yard and the material arrives in two to three business days. If you can read us the mold number off the underside of one paver, we can tell you today whether it’s on the truck or on order.
No. The written price you get before we start is the price you pay, unless you ask for a change and approve a change order in writing. No surprise invoices. No verbal estimates that grow on the final bill. That’s been the Mason Remodeling rule since 2004, and it applies to every Cambridge Pavers kitchen remodel we do in Los Angeles.
