Mr-Glass Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Mason Remodeling stocks and installs Mr-Glass-compatible bathroom remodeling components across Los Angeles, with full bathroom remodels typically running $10,620 to $33,040 depending on size, materials, and the condition of what’s behind the walls. Most owners call us after a Mr-Glass shower door roller gives out, a glass panel seal starts leaking, or a hinge corrodes from hard water and constant moisture. We carry the common failure parts on our trucks, and our techs can usually match your Mr-Glass hardware by brand markings, measurements, and photos before the first visit.

If you’re holding a failed hinge, a clouded glass panel, or a door that scrapes the threshold, you’re in the right place. Here’s what you need to know about matching Mr-Glass parts, what replacement actually costs in Los Angeles, and whether it’s a quick swap or a full remodel.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass manufactured shower enclosures, tub doors, and glass bathroom components in several series lines. The most common ones we run into in Los Angeles homes are the framed sliding tub doors, the semi-frameless pivot shower doors, and the heavy frameless hinged panels. Each series uses different roller diameters, hinge plate spacing, and glass thickness, which means a part from one Mr-Glass line won’t necessarily fit another.

Look for an etched logo or a small sticker near the bottom corner of the glass or on the metal frame. That marking usually gives you the series name. If the sticker’s long gone, measure the glass thickness (most Mr-Glass panels are 5/16″ or 3/8″) and the roller wheel diameter. Take a close-up photo of the hinge or roller assembly before you call us, and we can usually identify it from the picture. For Mr-Glass hardware specifically, we’ve found that OEM replacement parts are worth buying when they’re still available, because the mounting hole spacing on aftermarket hinges doesn’t always line up on semi-frameless doors. On framed sliding doors, quality aftermarket rollers often work fine and cost less.

We’re an independent Los Angeles remodeling contractor, not a Mr-Glass dealer or affiliate. That means we’ll tell you straight when OEM parts aren’t worth chasing and give you options that hold up to Southern California water conditions.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Door drags or scrapes the bottom track. The roller bearings have worn flat, or the wheels are crusted with hard-water scale. Left alone, the door gets harder to move until the roller housing snaps.
  • Water seeps under the glass onto the bathroom floor. The bottom sweep or side seal has stiffened and lost its flex. In Los Angeles, mineral-heavy water accelerates this, hardening rubber seals years before they’d fail in softer water.
  • Glass panel wobbles when you open or close it. Hinge screws have loosened in the wall or the hinge plate has corroded. Continued use can stress the glass edge and crack the panel.
  • White haze or clouding on the glass that won’t clean off. This is mineral etching from hard water. It usually means the glass coating has worn through, and the panel will keep degrading without resurfacing or replacement.
  • Rust streaks or green corrosion at hinge points. The plated finish has failed. On semi-frameless Mr-Glass doors, this corrosion can seize the hinge and make the door impossible to adjust without breaking the glass.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A wood double vanity with two mirrors after a bathroom remodel

A full Mr-Glass-compatible bathroom remodel in Los Angeles runs $10,620 to $33,040. That’s the installed price, including the new enclosure, plumbing fixture updates, waterproofing, tile work, and labor. Smaller scope work like swapping a tub for a walk-in shower lands between $4,130 and $14,160, while a shower door replacement alone typically falls in the $3,540 to $10,030 range depending on glass type and frame style.

What drives the spread: glass thickness (3/8″ frameless costs more than 5/16″ semi-frameless), whether we’re rebuilding the shower pan and waterproofing behind the walls, tile choice, and whether the existing plumbing needs repositioning. We give you a written price before any work starts, with parts and labor separated so you can see exactly what you’re paying for. The workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, and if an installation fails within a year of completion, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: look for the series marking, measure the glass thickness, and clear visible debris from the track. That’s honest information gathering and it helps us quote you faster. But swapping Mr-Glass doors and panels is not a casual weekend job. Frameless glass panels weigh 60 to 100 pounds, and when tempered glass gets stressed at the wrong angle, it shatters into thousands of pieces without warning. Hinges must be anchored into solid framing, not drywall, and a door that’s drilled wrong will crack the panel you just paid for.

We’ve fixed more than one job where a homeowner bought the right Mr-Glass part online and cracked the glass trying to mount it. The part wasn’t the problem. The process was. If the door’s sticking, squealing, or swaying, call us at (803) 680-2547 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll let you know if it’s a $40 roller swap or a full enclosure replacement before we ever schedule a visit.
