CertainTeed Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We install, repair, and replace CertainTeed fence systems throughout Los Angeles, with most full installations running between $4,130 and $10,620 depending on linear footage, gate hardware, and site prep. If you’ve got a failed panel, a cracked post, or a gate that’s sagging off its hinges on an existing CertainTeed fence, we stock the common replacement parts and can usually match what’s standing in your yard without ripping out the whole line. What brings most people to this page is a specific failure: a post that’s rotted at the base, a vinyl panel that’s blown out of its rail, or a gate that won’t latch because the frame torqued out of square.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed makes three fence lines we work with regularly: Bufftech (their vinyl series), EverNew (a reinforced vinyl system with aluminum stiffeners), and Grand Estate (a heavier ornamental line). There’s no universal part across these series, which is the first compatibility gotcha most homeowners hit. Bufftech posts are 4×4 or 5×5 nominal, depending on panel height, and the bottom rails use routed channels that changed slightly between generations. If you’re looking at what you’ve got, there’s almost always a manufacturer label on the inside of a post cap or the inside face of a gate stile; that tag will have the series name and a color code.
For parts, we recommend OEM CertainTeed for anything structural: posts, rails, and blank panels. The UV stabilization in their resin mix is tuned for Southern California sun, and aftermarket vinyl often fades visibly within six or seven years in Los Angeles. Where we will use a quality aftermarket equivalent is on non-structural hardware like post caps, gate hinges, and latch mechanisms, where there’s no risk to the fence line and the savings are real. Mason Remodeling is an independent service provider; we’re not affiliated with CertainTeed, but we’ve installed and repaired their fence lines across Los Angeles for years.

Signs Your CertainTeed Fence Installation Is Failing
- Posts leaning at the base. This is the number one failure mode in Los Angeles, usually because the post was set in un-drained soil or the concrete footer was too shallow. Once a post starts leaning, water follows the gap and accelerates the problem.
- Panels rattling or bowing in dry wind. CertainTeed panels expand and contract with temperature. If they weren’t cut with proper expansion clearance at install, they’ll bind, then bind harder in summer heat, and eventually crack at the rail connection.
- Gate dragging or failing to latch. Gate frames twist when the hinge-side post loses its footing. Some owners keep tightening the latch, but the real fix is re-setting the post and re-hanging the gate on properly seated hinges.
- Mildew staining that won’t wash off. Properly graded Los Angeles yards drain fine, but low spots behind fences collect pooled water. If the area is damp for days after rain, the vinyl pores start holding biological growth from the back side.
- The fence is fine but the neighbor’s is failing. Shared fence lines move together. If the neighbor’s section is going, your end posts take extra racking force. It’s worth checking now before spring wind season.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
| Scope | Typical Los Angeles Range |
|---|---|
| Single post replacement (same series match) | $450 – $950 |
| Gate re-hang with new post | $800 – $1,800 |
| Partial panel replacement (10 – 20 linear feet) | $1,400 – $3,200 |
| Full CertainTeed fence installation (50 – 100 linear feet) | $4,130 – $10,620 |
What drives cost more than anything is access and square footage: a flat, clear Hollywood Hills yard is a different job than a compact North Hollywood side yard with three gates and a utility easement. We write the price before any work starts, line-by-line, and that number is the number. Every installation carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something we installed fails within a year of completion, we return and fix it at no charge to you.

You can safely inspect an existing fence: look for cracks running from the bottom rail slots upward, check the top of each post for pooled water or exposed rim, and test the gate in three positions to see where it binds. You should not remove a set post or pull a panel that’s under load without experience. Posts are set in concrete in Los Angeles in native soil that’s sandy in the Valley and hardpan in parts of the Basin; getting one out without cutting the post at the base is a three-hour fight if you don’t do it daily. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll quote the repair or full replacement honestly. Some fixes are easier than they look; we’ll tell you if that’s yours.
FAQs

In Los Angeles sunlight and temperatures, a well-installed CertainTeed fence lasts 25 to 30 years before you’d consider full replacement, with routine panel and gate repairs along the way. Coastal moisture in Santa Monica or Marina del Rey shortens that nearer to 20 years because of sustained humidity and salt air.
No, not reliably. Once the vinyl post has cracked or the footing is broken, the strongest fix is a new post set in properly drained concrete. Bracing or patching a failed post leaves the gate pulling on a false foundation, and you’ll revisit the fix inside a year. Call (803) 680-2547 and we’ll tell you honestly which yours is.
A full replacement of 50 to 100 linear feet in Los Angeles takes two to three days, including removal and haul-off of the old line. Single post replacement or gate re-hang is almost always done in a day, including the concrete pour.
We stock common Bufftech and EverNew replacement panels, rails, gates, and post caps in multiple colors and sizes on our trucks, in addition to general fencing hardware. If we don’t have your exact series or color match in the truck, we’ll order it same week and keep the fence line secure until the part arrives.
