Toto Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

A full Toto bathroom remodel in Los Angeles typically runs between $10,620 and $33,040 installed, depending on whether you’re replacing a single Toto fixture or rebuilding the entire wet space. Most Toto-specific remodels take 2 to 4 weeks once materials arrive, and we stock common Toto replacement parts across several model lines. The usual way homeowners find us: their Toto toilet, bidet seat, or shower valve starts acting up mid-remodel, or they planned a bathroom refresh around a Toto fixture and need someone who actually knows the product line. We’re an independent contractor, not affiliated with Toto, so our loyalty is to you and getting the right part matched to your model the first time.

Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto’s lineup spans far more than the Neorest and Drake you see in showrooms. In Los Angeles homes, we regularly work on the Drake II (CST454CEFG), Ultramax II (MS604114CEFG), Aquia IV (CST474CEFG), and the Washlet series (C100 through S550e). The compatibility gotcha most owners miss: Toto changed the rough-in measurements and mounting bolt spacing between generations, so a fill valve or flush tower from a 2010 Drake will not always drop into a 2023 Drake II. Check the model number stamped inside the tank or under the tank lid. For bidet seats, the mounting bracket spacing matters as much as the electrical spec. We recommend OEM Toto parts for anything inside the tank (flush tower, fill valve, flapper) and interior electronic components on Washlets – aftermarket equivalents exist, but Toto’s flush tower seals fit tighter and last longer in Los Angeles’ hard water. For exterior trim and supply lines, quality aftermarket parts work fine and cost less. We carry both on the truck so you can decide with real numbers in front of you.

Signs Your Toto Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Phantom flushing or slow tank refill: The flush tower seal has mineral buildup from LA’s hard water, so water seeps from tank to bowl. You’ll hear the tank refill for a few seconds every 20 to 30 minutes. This is the most common Toto repair we make in Los Angeles.
  • Washlet seat won’t heat or the remote won’t pair: The heating element or control board in the seat has failed. These are replaceable as a seat unit rather than a full toilet swap, which saves hundreds over a new Washlet.
  • Water pooling around the base: The wax ring or the Toto-specific Uni-Fit adapter seal has failed. Toto uses a larger waste outlet on some models, so a standard wax ring may not seat correctly – another reason to match the part to the exact model.
  • Weak or incomplete flush with no visible leak: The fill valve is no longer delivering the correct water level, or the jet holes at the bowl rim are clogged with mineral scale. A Toto with proper water level clears the bowl in one flush; if you’re holding the lever, something’s off.
  • Shower valve drips or the temperature fluctuates: Toto shower valves use a ceramic disc cartridge. When mineral deposits score the disc surface, the valve drips or won’t hold temperature. Replacement cartridges are model-specific, and we stock the common ones.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a partial Toto remodel (toilet replacement, valve swap, vanity, and flooring), expect $10,620 to $18,880. A full bathroom rebuild with walk-in shower, Toto fixtures throughout, tile work, and lighting lands between $18,880 and $33,040. What drives the range: whether we’re moving plumbing lines, whether the subfloor needs repair once tile comes up, and which Toto series you choose. Every job includes a written line-item price before work starts – parts cost, labor, disposal, and permit fees stated separately. No change orders, no verbal add-ons. We warranty our labor for 365 days from completion, and if a repair or installation fails in that window, we return free of charge. Isaac Pruett has walked thousands of Los Angeles bathroom jobs, and he’ll tell you the cheapest bid usually costs more by the time the second contractor fixes the first one’s trim.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely replace a Toto toilet seat, adjust the water level in the tank, or swap a supply line. Anything involving the flush tower, fill valve, or Uni-Fit adapter is where DIY gets expensive fast – Toto’s internal components use specific seals and measurements, and forcing the wrong part cracks the china or the adapter, and now you’re replacing the whole toilet instead of a $40 part. Washlet electronics, and anything involving the seat’s wiring, should always be handled by a trained professional. Water plus 120-volt wiring is not a weekend project. If you’re not sure, call (803) 680-2547 and describe what you’re seeing; we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a homeowner job or a service call.
